1.課目概要

(1) Course description:

A.  All of the students in English division in TSU are required to pass at least an intermediate level in GEPT (or an equivalent test). Thus, in this course, students will receive training on test taking and acquire the necessary test taking skills.

(2) The importance of this course:

A. This course is designed specifically to develop students test-taking tactics and language skills, which include listening and reading. 

B. By the end of this course, students are expected to have test taking tactics, such as time management, skimming and scanning.  In addition, their word bank grammatical concepts will be enhanced.

(3) The main points of this course:

A. In this course, there are two main parts.  One is reading and the other is listening.  For the reading part, there are three sections and they are (a) incomplete sentence (b) text completion and (c) reading comprehension.  As for the listening part, it includes (a) phonographs, (b) question-response, (c) conversations and (d) short talks. 

(4)) The application of this course:

A. Not only that test taking skills will be introduced in this course, business English will also be introduced to the students and this will help them a great deal when they work in the business field.

 

 

這一堂課的目標主要是培養學生的英文考試能力並提升他們的英文能力,因此這一堂課主要是加強考試技巧,例如時間的掌控,所以學生可以更輕鬆且更有效率地應付考試。課程內容的設計可以幫助學生更熟悉英文能力考試的程序及問題型態,而最終目標是幫助學生通過英文能力檢定 – 中級程度。總而言之,透過這堂課,學生們將能增進他們的英文能力及英文考試的能力。

By the end of this course, students will develop the following skills:

(A) Listening skills:

a. They will be able to choose the correct picture after listening to four descriptions.

b. They will be able to choose the best response after listening to a question or statement and three responses.

c. They will be able to select the best response after listening to some conversations between two people followed by three questions.

(B) Reading skills:

a. They will be able to read a variety of texts and answer several different types of reading comprehension questions.

b. They will be able to select the best answer to complete the text.

c. They will be able to select the best answer for the questions designed for a selection of texts.

By the end of this course, students are expected to be able to demonstrate the following skills:

(A) Listening Skills:

a. To be able to understand the description of the picture and choose the correct picture.

b. To be able to identify whether the question is a wh- question or yes-no question and then get the main point of the question so that the students can choose the correct response to the question or statement.

c. To be able to skim through the questions before listen to the conversation and underline the key words so the test takers can find the answer efficiently.

d. To be able to skim through the questions before the test taker listen to the dialogue and then answer the questions right after listening to the dialogue without listening to the questions.

(B) Reading Skills:

a. To be able to skim or scan through the texts to find the best answer.

b. To be able to read between the lines and behind the lines.

c. To be able to increase their business related word bank.

(A)聽力:利用作業、考試評量等

(B)口語:利用口頭報告、分組討論等

(C)出席未達1/2以上者均須重修 

4.課堂要求

(1)學校相關規定: (A)配合學校點名制度,進行每節課點名。 (B)缺曠課總節次超過 1/2 者,會被扣考。 (2)課堂守則(或公約): 上課期間禁用手機、遵守智慧財產權、不得非法影印。
